Kyushu Sencha (Ujinotsuyu)

Wednesday is Green Tea, White Tea, Rooibos, Oolong and Tisane (Herbal) Review Day!

There’s something wonderful about having a foundational tea. Something you can count on always being pleasurable regardless of the time of day, what the weather is like or even if you’ve had it recently.

I’ve found the traditional JapaneseSencha blends to be such a staple beverage. Always soothing, always pleasurable Sencha is a tea I can reliably say is consistently delicious.

Ujinotsuyu’s Kyushu style blend is not left out, although like all green teas it can become bitter if the tea is steeped for too long of if you allow the temperature to cool too much. It’s blend isn’t too strong or too weak.

I initially picked this blend up at an area asian market to have with some instant noodles. I’ve found myself consistently replacing my stock of this tea as I run out of tea bags. Ujinotsuyu does offer a loose version but I have found myself drawn to the plastic sealed package with the paper tea bags as I’m not wont to drink this blend but a couple times a month.

The flavor of the Kyushu style blend is comforting, smoothe on the palete with just a little bitterness on the tail. It could certainly be more aromatic but it’s boldness is just right!
