I woke up on the grumpy side of the bed this morning. So, I instantly gravitated to this Organic Peppermint from Taylors of Harrogate to soothe my nerves.

Crisp and clean, this tea remains invigorating throughout the infusion. I think it’s best hot, but even chilled a bit it proves quite refreshing.

The aroma and flavor are spot on what I expected and was hoping for.

What’s in your cup?

From my tea friends over at Hampstead Tea comes this Fair Trade Fennel Licorice tea.

To be honest, this blend made me nervous. I mean, how good could a fennel licorice tea really be?

The aroma comes out light, not as strong as I’d imagined and the liquor is nice and light.

What about the flavor? With the inclusion of mint in the Organic concoction it actually comes out nice and refreshing.

Morning Cup is a daily segment where I post what I am drinking this morning with a quick pic of my beverage and some initial thoughts. These posts are not thorough reviews, and haven’t been put through my standard review process.

I’m not really feeling well this morning. A stomach bug going around I think.

Today I went with a bagged Moroccan Mint tea from PeLi Teas.

This cup is light. Easy to drink. The mint isn’t heavy or overbearing, rather well matched to the strength of the gunpowder green tea it’s blended with.

Morning Cup is a new daily segment where I’ll post what I am drinking this morning with a quick image of my beverage and some initial thoughts. These posts are not thorough reviews, and haven’t been put through my standard review process.

This morning I’m baggin’ it again today with a cup of Mint Pu’erh from Numi Tea.

The cup is smooth with just enough of peppermint. Surprisingly the mind blends well with the Pu’erh and doesn’t overshadow its earthy tones.

52teas is pretty well known for Frank’s creative undertaking of making a small hand blended batch of tea for limited release every week. That’s a new tea every week for 52 weeks a year. And he’s been doing it for three years now. He’s coming up with some spectacular teas!

The loose leaves are decidedly BOP with small broken pieces the only size seen. You can guess whether the tea with be strong or not. Nice sized cacao nib chunks are strewn throughout the blend. Fresh cut pepper mint can also be seen if you’re looking closely enough. The liquor is one of the darkest copper-red I’ve seen.

The dry leaf aroma is remarkably reminiscent of a nice Andes Mint. The brewed aroma is more astringent with unsubtle notes of dark chocolate bitterness.

On the palate the Chocolate Mint Black Tea starts out smooth but quickly dries the palate. There’s little left to the imagination, but I didn’t seem to mind. The dark chocolate bitterness from the cacao nibs comes through well and pairs just about right with the mint.

Chocolate Mint Black Tea

This tea is pretty strong. Astringent almost to a fault it dries the palate quickly and doesn’t let go. You end up drinking more and more to stay hydrated, but it never works. Somehow, you never really mind that much.

Fans of  dark chocolate, andes mints and CTC Black Teas may enjoy this tea.
