Morning Cup #36 – Vanilla Rooibos

MorningCup Morning Cup #36 Vanilla Rooibos

In the cup this morning is a Vanilla Rooibos from Adagio Teas.

Like most Rooibos tisanes, this one brews a wonderfully vivid red liquor. The aroma is light and sweet with hints of honey amongst the clear vanilla overtones.

On the palate the same vanilla overtones come through nicely with balance. A nice surprise considering how often vanilla is overpowering in a tea.

Morning Cup #35 – Pure Ceylon Lemon Tea

MorningCup Morning Cup #35 Pure Ceylon Lemon Tea

Today’s cup is a Ceylon Lemon Tea from Dils Tea / Tea Packs USA.

This Sri Lankan black tea pairs nicely with the lemon flavoring. While the body remains astringent the lemon does well to distract from the strength of the brew.

Sadly the aroma was much lighter than hoped and carried all of the strength of the brew, with none of the lemon.

Morning Cup #34 – Sen Cha

Today’s cup is a Sen Cha (Sencha) from Sugimoto USA.

This lightly grassy green tea grows up nice and comfortable. The pyramid sachet is used well here with nice sized leaves allowed to unfurl properly.

The aroma is grassy with a hint of spinach and artichoke. The flavor holds a mystery akin to fresh leeks.

Morning Cup #33 – English Breakfast Tea

Today’s cup is English Breakfast Tea from Taylors of Harrogate.

This blend of black teas from India, China and Sri Lanka brews up astringent and firm. The body remains light. Nicer than expected.

The aroma offers some hints at stone fruits such as peach, but only the subtlest of those comes through in the flavor.

Morning Cup #32 – White Orchard

MorningCup Morning Cup #32 White Orchard

Today’s cup is White Orchard from Mighty Leaf Tea.

This Sri Lankan Green Tea (Sri Lanka used to be called Ceylon) is light, not grassy or vegetal. Sadly it’s a bit nondescript. Somewhere between a Dragonwell (Lung Ching) and a Kukicha to be honest. I’m not really sure what to think about it.
