The Project
Original Project – February 2009
In early 2009 I made the decision to start my own tea house in Cincinnati, OH. Now, Cincinnati already has a number of tea houses. All but one of them is tuned to a more British high tea atmosphere.
I have yet to choose a name for my new tea venue. However, I imagine it a welcoming place where those new to tea can feel comfortable to experiment without the need for inhibitions.
Thus far I have determined 50 of the 75 blends of tea I hope to offer. Additionally I have met with a representative of SCORE and am in discussions with several wholesalers of tea for my opening stock.
My next steps are selecting a fun and energetic name to go with my byline (“A Multicultural Teahouse”), finding pricing for the retail space I want, judging start-up costs including furnishings, build-out and more.
UPDATE – January 2010
I have finally decided on a name for my tea brand. It only took me a year to do.
I’m dropping the retail side of this initiative for now. In the future this will be revisited. In the meantime, I’ll be looking to sell teas online via my brand’s website. I won’t reveal the name until I’ve properly formed this company and landed the necessary intellectual property and logo works.
Next step is to decide on all the teas to carry. I’m moving forward!
